In the last 4.5 months, I have lost 37 lbs. Many people ask me "what is your secret to losing weight?" And I respond that there is no secret to losing weight, there is no magic diet, no pill that you can take to lose weight. I wish there was but in reality it's all about eating less (I eat around 1200 calories a day) and exercise (I workout between 4-5 days a week an hour to an hour and a half).
Dieting is hard! You are changing old behaviors and patterns and replacing them with new ones and of course that is always a challenge. I am not perfect by no means and have many days where I overeat or don't exercise but the next day I say to my self "it's another day and you are not going to lose everything you worked so hard to accomplish so that you could eat fattening food that only lasts a few minutes!"
I use www.livestrong.com to calculate all of the food that goes in my mouth and the exercise that I do. The site is free and it has helped me be conscious about what goes in my body. I make healthier versions of my favorite foods such as salisbury steak, omelets, and desserts. I have cut out a lot of my favorites though like chinese food buffets and Golden Corral ( very dangerous places to go when you LOVE food). I love the way I feel and that is part of my motivation. Another motivator for me is seeing many obese people in later stages of life and them needing wheelchairs and scooters to move around. I DON'T want to be that person!
I read somewhere that it is hard to be overweight, it is hard to lose weight, it is hard to maintain weight... chose your hard!
